If incorrectly done, house flipping can leave you broke, busted and disgusted. Thankfully, radio-personality-turned-real-estate-expert Egypt Sherrod doesn’t want you to go out like that. The 38-year-old wife and mom recently nabbed her second series with HGTV, “Flipping Virgins,” through which she hopes to educate those seeking to try their hand at house flipping.
The series, which is a spin-off of her successful television show, “Property Virgins,” documents the journeys of people who Sherrod will assist in purchasing, renovating and reselling investment properties. Sherrod—who has personally flipped quite a few homes and managed to maintain a real estate business during her radio career—will instruct the “virgins” on how to properly renovate the homes while avoiding expensive pitfalls that will eat away at their profits.
“If they end up not making as much as we had originally hoped, it’s often because they didn’t make smart decisions in design elements,” Sherrod told AJC. “They get so emotionally attached to every little thing as if they are going to live in that house.”
The first installment of the four-episode test run began Tuesday. Sherrod says that she’s confident HGTV will order more episodes.
