Miami Cops Save The Day And Sing To A Woman Whose 21st Birthday Was Almost Ruined By A Robbery [Watch]

A young lady should have nothing but fond memories of her 21st birthday. Unfortunately, a phone thief nearly ruined one law school student’s Miami celebration when he snatched her cell phone and ran off with it.

According to WSBTV, Kourtney Chester traveled to South Florida last month to celebrate her birthday. While heading to dinner with a few friends, Kourtney was approached and attacked by a man who snatched her cell phone then slapped her with it. Thankfully, the entire incident was captured by a surveillance camera and within two hours, Miami officers were able to apprehend the suspect.

The officers notified Chester, who was able to positively identify the culprit. Shortly after, he was charged with strong armed robbery. After the officers completed their report, they gathered around the birthday girl and proceeded to sing “Happy Birthday” to the Atlanta native. They also presented her with a card and cupcake decked out with trick candles.

“I was not expecting it at all,” said Chester. “I was shocked. I was under the impression that I was going to identify the guy, and that was it. Next thing I know, we walked over and they had the candle and the cupcake, and they started singing. It was just so thoughtful.”

“They really made it one to remember. I was so thankful to all of them,” she continued.

The birthday girl’s mom, Karlita Chester, also praised the department for being so thoughtful.

“The officers were so kind, that they took the time out of their busy day to gather and sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to my daughter in efforts to make her birthday a very memorable day, outside of the crime that was committed against her,” she said.

There’s plenty of negative press surrounding the boys in blue these days, but feel-good stories like this serve as a reminder that there are still plenty of good cops out there.
