Teyana Taylor Plans To Work Throughout Pregnancy: “I’m Sure The Records Will Be Coming”
New moms are often expected to take time off from their careers following the birth of their babies, but Teyana Taylor says that this won’t be the case in her situation.
“No, no, no the work does not stop,” the 24-year-old told Karen Civil. “The studio will be built in the house, and music already calms my daughter when she’s upset. I’m sure the records will be coming.”
The “Maybe” singer’s boyfriend, Iman Shumpert, announced the pregnancy news earlier this week—confirming rumors that were already circulating—but the couple knew that they were expecting a child for quite some time now. In fact, Shumpert said that he learned that he would be a father for the first time during the NBA playoffs earlier this year.
“‘Twas May 22nd and a day that we will never forget!” said the Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard.
As for why they kept the news under wraps for so long, the 25-year-old first-time father had this to say:
“It was never a secret. We as parents-to-be wanted the moment of people finding out we were expecting a child to be special. This is not a story or an exclusive — it’s a celebration of life, and that should be respected. We don’t want any negative light put on someone so innocent and so precious.”
