Los Angeles Days: How To Do Business Travel With A Kid
by Sharra Dade
Traveling with a young child is never just easy breezy, but traveling on business with your kid in tow makes everything that much more complicated. What do I pack? What don’t I pack? How will I manage taking care of business and avoid the outbursts that normally occur, while in the middle of an important conversation? These are the questions that many parents ask themselves, when having to do business and managing parenting responsibilities simultaneously.
You know how it goes, the phone calls that sound like, “Yes! I completely feel that the strategy for this is going in the right…STOP IT! NO! I said wait until I am off the phone!…Sorry, I’m with my daughter today…yes, so the strategy…”
As an entrepreneur and multi-tasking parent, we’ve all been there at some point or another, but I just couldn’t afford for these kind of outbursts to happen, at least not this time.
I recently took a business trip from New York to Los Angeles with my six-year-old daughter and since she was a part of the itinerary, I wanted to make sure that she had as much fun as possible without compromising my business agenda. I also decided that if she was going to have some fun, I was too, darn it! From packing to working and making sure we had some well spent down time, I made sure to plan well in advance for a seamless execution.
Here are five tips that I can share for business travel with a kid and some of our trip highlights.
