Draya Michele has chosen to keep the identity of her 11-year-old son’s father a secret. However, that hasn’t stopped the rumor mill from coming up with a million and one theories. One of the more popular rumors is that Gilbert Arenas secretly fathered Kniko, but after years of speculation, the former Wizards shooting guard finally addressed the rumors.
“Draya’s son was at least four years old when I met her and we were [cool] friends,” Arenas explained in an Instagram post that has since been removed.
Interestingly, the 33-year-old also provided a bit of insight into the feud between Draya and his ex-fiancée, Laura Govan, who appeared on “Basketball Wives LA” alongside the swimsuit designer. Apparently, Govan was barred from mentioning his name on the series by a gag order.
“Draya was [cast], but since the show wasn’t paying her to move to Cali to shoot and live, we came to an agreement.”
Arenas volunteered to help her move and she, too, agreed not to mention his name.
“This is why no one understood who Draya was with to be on the show…”
It also explains why Govan was so furious with Draya during season one. As you may recall, the mother of four complained that she had been abandoned by Arenas and was forced to live in a one-bedroom apartment with all four of their children.
In what appeared to be a jab at Govan, Arenas applauded Draya for establishing her name without attaching herself to him or any other athlete.
“I thank her for making a name for herself and not using my name to pogo her career.”
As for why he’s speaking out now, Arenas had this to say:
“Her son is 11…my kids are 9,8,5,4, and they can access the Internet and sh-t like this floating around can have kids confused.”
