Well, it looks like Aretha Franklin will get her wish.

In 2013, the legendary singer said that she wanted Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Hudson to take the lead role in her biopic, and according to Vulture, that dream is on the brink of becoming a reality.

Apparently, Hudson is in talks to star in the film, which has Franklin’s approval and is being developed by Straight Outta Compton’s Scott Bernstein.

Currently, the project remains untitled but according to reports, it will focus equally on her career and her personal life—including her abusive marriage to manager Ted White.

“The singing is certainly going to be a very, very integral and important part of it,” Franklin told Billboard in 2014.

According to The Wrap, Hudson has not been officially cast, and there is no deal in place as of yet, but a representative for the singer confirmed that conversations have taken place.

We will continue to keep you posted as this story develops.

Do you believe Jennifer would make a good Aretha?
