Ice Cube And Son In Talks To Star In Film About L.A. Riots

After cleaning up at the box office with Straight Outta Compton, Ice Cube and O’Shea Jackson Jr. are preparing to possibly star in an action thriller together.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the father-and-son duo is in talks to star in Lionsgate film, April 29, 1992, which is based on the L.A. riots.

Cube is being considered for the role of an ex-criminal who is tasked with saving his son after a band of thugs invade his place of work. The project is being produced by Will Packer, who also served as an executive producer for Compton. The script was written by Sascha Penn, and Donovan Marsh is directing. Filming for the action flick could begin as early as February.

Of course, we would love to see Cube and O’Shea appear in this film together, but we’re not going to get our hopes up too high just yet. According to insiders, talks are still in the very early stages, which means there’s a chance the guys will pass on the project altogether.

“Ice Cube and O’Shea Jackson Jr. have no plans to commit to this project at this time. Any speculations or rumors that suggest that they are confirmed are simply untrue,” said the duo’s publicist Thursday.

We will continue to keep you posted as new details emerge concerning this project.
