Styled By Cookie: Saks Fifth Avenue Debuts ‘Empire’ Collection

Empire star Trai Byers is on the cover of Saks Fifth Avenue’s fall magalog and it’s not just because he looks dapper in a suit. The high fashion retail company is teaming up with Fox’s hit Hip-Hop drama to release a line of Empire-inspired fashion. Yes, you will now be able to dress like Cookie or Lucious if you want to.

“This is big,” Marc Metrick, president of Saks Fifth Avenue told Women’s Wear Daily.  “The magalog is 272 pages. It’s only the second one we’ve done. The lines between entertainment and fashion are blurring. In very strategic ways, entertainment is like the new editorial.”

The new collection will include women’s ready-to-wear looks by Cushnie Et Ops, purses and accessories from MCM, men’s and women’s shoes from Jimmy Choo and fine jewelry by Alexis Bittar. The designers’ looks will be styled in ways only Cookie would do them. From animal prints to bold colors, Saks seems to be ready for Season 2 of the hit show and invites you to experience the brand in a new way.



“The influence Empire has had on so many aspects of popular culture proves it has the ingredients to become a stand-alone fashion brand,” said Jeffrey Godsick. Godsick is President of Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products.

Flagship stores in New York and Beverly Hills will soon roll out Empire-themed window displays on September 10 with the fashions making their debut the same day as the season two premiere, September 23. The looks will be available in select Saks Fifth Avenue stores around the country, and each brands’ retail store as well.

“We wanted to introduce ‘Empire’ as a lifestyle brand from the outset. It has aspirational qualities. We believe it can be a stand-alone fashion brand,” said Godsick
