Kerry Washington Opens Up About Her Life That’s Anything But A ‘Scandal’
Okay Olivia! It’s hard to remember at times that Kerry Washington is a proud mama. She and her husband, former NFL player Nnamdi Asomugh, have a 17-month-old daughter named Isabella, but good luck trying to snag a pic of the more than likely adorable tot (Kerry is extremely private).
You’d have a better chance of working for B613.
The 38-year-old Scandal star graces the September cover of Self where she not only shows off a physique that’s beat to capacity, but opens up about her life as a mom, finding balance, and why she doesn’t care about her pre-pregnancy weight.
“I have to take care of myself in order to live life the way I want to,” Washington shares. It’s pretty obvious that Kerry is in wonderful shape (hence the Self magazine cover) and thanks pilates, among other forms of exercise for keeping her both fit and grounded. “With pilates, I get to bring my true self. I get to go: How can I take care of myself and push myself past my comfort zone?”
It’s quite apparent milk ain’t the only thing that can do a body good. Anyone else trying to Google a nearby pilates class?
As much time as Kerry dedicates to fitness (and herself), she makes it known that her family is still number one. “I try to get it in so I can be back with my kid early,” Kerry reveals that explains her super early AM sessions in her converted dressing room/gym.
While Kerry might be willing to open up about her workout regimen, one thing you probably shouldn’t ask her is that question all moms hear: Do you feel back to your old self?
“I’ve been really focused on not being ‘back’ to anything, but being the best version of myself right now. My body is the site of a miracle now. I don’t want to be pre-miracle.”
