Hold off on sending around that Change.org petition. BET was only pulling our legs when they said “Uncut” would be returning to their weekly line-up.
Tuesday, the network revealed that their announcement concerning the return of the after-hours program was just a practical joke to promote the revival of “Punk’d,” a television show introduced by MTV about celebrity-centered pranks.
The delivery was flawless. Just as all the freaks in the land gathered around their television sets with their mouths salivating in anticipation, ready to witness booty popping coupled with terrible music, “Punk’d” newcomers DeStorm Power and Andrew “King Bach” Bachelor appeared on the screen and delivered the news.
“Stop the show! Stop the show,” said Power.
“So y’all thought y’all was going to see ‘BET Uncut’?” Bachelor asked before the two burst into laughter.
While some were naturally opposed to the network reviving “Uncut,” others were totally here for it, which made the prank all the more hilarious.
Honestly, when BET first announced that “Punk’d” would be added to the lineup, I wasn’t sure that anyone would be interested in watching. However, this stunt may have been just what they needed to boost interest in the revival.
Well played, BET. Well played.
