Any list without “King James” isn’t much of a list. It is obvious he is on his way to becoming a mogul if he isn’t already. James has quickly made business move after business move which has made waves across the covers of the sports page, as well as the business page. In 2007, instead of maxing out his contract, he signed, and convinced Dewayne Wade and Chris Bosh to sign, shorter three-year extensions to keep their options open. According to Sports Illustrated, last year he brought in $45 million ($30 million in endorsements), and as much as he said his decision was about winning, from the ESPN Special it seemed more like a calculated business move to catapult his brand to the next level. In addition to joining with rappers Pitbull and Drake to launch Sheets Energy Strips, James recently teamed up with Femway Sports Management in a deal that gives him minority interest in the Liverpool soccer club. He is well on his way to becoming a billionaire athlete.
