“He’s Evil” Lesley McSpadden Responds To Darren Wilson’s New Yorker Profile
Earlier this week, we learned that The New Yorker profiled Darren Wilson. We didn’t bother to report about it because, at this point, we don’t care to hear anything he has to say, particularly when Michael Brown doesn’t have the ability to tell his story. Wilson is the last person who needs any more air time. Personally, I’m tired of the White folks who kill innocent, unarmed Black folks becoming celebrities.
But I digress.
Yesterday, Al Jazeera America released a video interview featuring Lesley McSpadden, Mike Brown’s mother; and in it, she provided her thoughts on Darren Wilson’s words, many of which were dismissive and callous.
The interviewer shared some of them with her.
“Darren Wilson was asked if he thought about your son, here’s what he said: ‘Do I think about who he was as a person? Not really because it doesn’t matter at this point.
Do I think he had the best upbringing? No, not at all.”
Here’s how McSpadden responded.
He’s evil. His acts were devilish. And we definitely know he didn’t have the right upbringing because those are words that you just don’t use, especially after you took somebody’s life and you know you had no reason to. You had no reason to do that.
But he can’t hurt me with his words. What he did last year, hurt me really bad. So his words mean nothing to me.
Then the interviewer asked McSpadden if she’d forgiven him.
