While the results of the independent autopsy that Bland’s family ordered has not been released, one young man has taken matters into his own hands to start a new trend via social media that mimics her questionable mug shot. Dubbed the #SandraBlandChallenge, people are exhibiting their solidarity for the a “challenge that actually matters” after the #SandraBland hashtag that was shut down by Instagram in an effort to stop hate speech that it was attracting.
