Production for Janet Jackson’s Unbreakable World Tour has been postponed, Entertainment Tonight reports.
Instead, the singer will be spending time with her father, Joe Jackson, who suffered a stroke while celebrating his 87th birthday in Brazil on Saturday. Reportedly, she plans to remain by his side until he is stable.
Monday, the “No Sleep” singer’s father released a statement from his hospital bed to thank relatives, friends and fans for their support and well wishes.
“To my family, friends, acquaintances and fans all over the world. I want to thank you all for your prayers, unwavering support and kind well wishes during these trying times,” he wrote. “Through God’s intervention the wonderful Doctors, Nurses and caretakers at the Albert Einstein Sao Paulo hospital have taken great care of me. God willing, I should be able to make a quick recovery and travel back home soon. Thank you all once again for your prayers and support.”
So far, Jackson’s tour is still scheduled to kick off in Vancouver exactly one month from today on August 31. No announcements have been about rescheduling at this time.
