After weeks of speculation, Deadline is reporting that Sherri Shepherd is, in fact, returning to “The View.”
According to reports, the alumnus of the ABC talk show will be stepping in as the lead contributor for the series’ upcoming 19th season. Apparently, producers are looking to tap some of her star power to attract viewers since Shepherd was one of the show’s more popular hosts. Reportedly, the actress and comedian has committed to taping 50 episodes.
After leaving the show last August due to contract renegotiation issues with ABC, Shepherd returned to the set as a guest host months later in May. While the 48-year-old has not spoken publicly about her return to “The View,” she did tweet about how much fun “the cohorts” were having on the show early Monday.
Shepherd will be leading a group of six or so contributors that will reportedly include Stacey London and Molly Sims. For season 19, Whoopi Goldberg, Raven-Symoné, and Michelle Collins are confirmed to return to the show. They’re expected to be joined by Candace Cameron Bure and Paula Faris.
