Gabrielle Union loves family life and wants the world to know it. The successful actress opened up about her feelings on love, family, married life, and being a stepmom. The “Being Mary Jane” star also just joined the new Tylenol campaign called #HowWeFamily.
The makers of Tylenol recently announced the launch of #HowWeFamily, a program that celebrates the love shared by modern families and empowers them to proclaim their familial pride. The program highlights the evolution of families and showcases that, despite the differences, families share similar intrinsic values that create enduring bonds.
In an interview with PEOPLE she said:
“Marrying into a family of three boys and becoming a stepmother to three kids has just sort of been an extension to how I was raised,” Union, 42, tells PEOPLE. “The more, the merrier! Everyone counts. Everyone has a space.”
“I was raised in a family that was all about unconditional love,” the actress says. “No matter what incarnation your family comes in, you are enough.”
She went on to talk about her involvement with the Tylenol “How We Family” Campaign.
“It’s about unconditional love, inclusion,” Union says. “To be a part of a program that actually celebrates that and all different kinds of family, I jumped at the chance.”
“That family encompasses so many people,” Union explains. “Not just the people that have been born into the family but extended family, stepkids, friends who have possibly been displaced from their families. Everyone is included and everyone counts.”
“We family with love, like a lot of cheesy love,” Union says. “And that works for us, and that’s how we family.”
Gabrielle is not only passionate about her family but continues to be passionate about philanthropy. She is an Ambassador in Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s Circle of Promise and has been a spokesperson for Planned Parenthood’s breast health initiative.
