WCW: 15 Model Mom Liya Kebede Looks
Model mom Liya Kebede has just made history by becoming the first black model with a solo cover on Paris Vogue. Kudos to her as she has certainly earned it. Liya, an Ethiopian-born model, wears many hats: mother of two, wife, maternal health advocate, clothing designer and actress who has appeared three times on the cover of US Vogue.
Ten years ago Kibede was appointed as WHO Goodwill Ambassador for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health and went on to start her own foundation to help reduce child mortality in Ethiopia and around the world. Her organization not only raises awareness and funds, but also helps to distribute tech tools for education and training for various medical programs.
This groundbreaking role model didn’t stop there, she’s even worked with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation as part of their Living Proof Project while working on a female child focused initiative called: “Start with a Girl: A New Agenda for Global Health. Liya is also being a visible advocate for Champions for an HIV Free Generation, an organization of African leaders led by former Botswana President Festus Mogae. The Champions advocate for increased HIV prevention and treatment efforts in Africa.
Today we salute this haute mama and amazing philanthropist while taking a look at some of her hottest looks over the years on and off the catwalk. She tends to favor tailored three piece suits, strong black and white mixing, sultry, glitzy gowns and statement shoes. Many of her looks are also perfect for the fall to spring transition we are in.
Werk it mama!
