Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey were both spotted without their wedding rings in August and according to a source that told People magazine, they had been living apart months before that. According to TMZ, Nick Cannon officially filed divorce papers on December 12th and also reported that Mariah had been working on a property settlement way before her hubby filed on December 12th.
Sources said Carey’s professional life may have contributed to their split, even as Cannon took to Twitter in September to say:
“I love Mariah Carey and that will never change!!!!”
Then in December on Twitter:
“I am always an open book but Personal matters are just that “Personal.” So please respect my family and respect the process.”
“I will never say anything negative about @MariahCarey We are forever a family rooted in love”
Just seven years ago the couple was in wedding bliss and celebrated a secret wedding in the Bahamas in 2008, after a six-week courtship. And in May of 2013, for their fifth anniversary, they seemed to still be in a happy place because they renewed their vows at Disneyland.
In the midst of all of the divorce drama, Carey has been solidifying some amazing opportunities. According to Page Six, Carey is in negotiations to sign a deal for a residency at Caesars Palace in Vegas. A source says that this deal “could be worth more than Britney Spears’ two-year, $30 million contract.” When the deal is official the Grammy winning singer will be able to entertain thousands of fans a few times a week. You can expect to hear hits like “We Belong Together,” “Hero,” “Fantasy,” “Always Be My Baby,” and more before 2016!
We wish them the best and hopefully they will both find love again…
