Winter Treats: MasterChef Junior Giveaway!
Last night was the premiere episode of MasterChef Junior on FOX. What a great show! My daughter loves to cook at home and especially with her grandma, who is a professional baker, so it was great to see these young people her age–and younger– do their things in the kitchen! How inspiring!
MasterChef Junior gives the best junior home cooks in America the chance to showcase their culinary abilities and passion for food through a series of delicious challenges. Each episode, host and award-winning chef Gordon Ramsay is joined by restaurateur Joe Bastianich and acclaimed chef Graham Elliot on the MasterChef Junior judging panel.
As we watched the Season 3 premiere, we had the perfect way to get warm and coz–by creating our very own MasterChef Junior hot cocoa with the warm winter kit they sent! We had a selection of hot chocolates on a stick (such a cute idea!) along with toppings like caramel, marshmallows and crushed peppermint.
Sascha made a creamy concoction of Vanilla White Chocolate sprinkled with marshmallows, while I had to try the cinnamon and cayenne hot chocolate and threw a few caramel bits inside. Delicious! We were cheering all the contestants on, but we were especially fond of Cory with his dope Afro and funky glasses. We even tweeted him some encouraging words and he tweeted back!
Here’s a quick interview with him…
1. What is your favorite dish to cook and why?
My favorite dish to make is Banana Chimichanga because the sweet taste explodes in your mouth!
2. What age did you start cooking?
5 years old.
3. Who inspires you to be the best chef?
Julie Child because she’s funny! Also, Gordon Ramsay. He’s like my mom.
4. What is your favorite meal to eat?
I love sushi!
5. What’s your must have kitchen tool? – without naming any brands.
I have to have a knife.
6. What are your 3 favorite hobbies besides cooking?
I enjoy golfing, playing and watching soccer and reading. I really love fashion books!
7. If you could pick any MASTERCHEF JUNIOR contestant (from Season 1 or 2) to cook with, who would it be and why?
I would cook with Season One contestant Jack. His dishes look yummy and I love his Hawaiian shirts – he’s fashionable!
We loved seeing the great talent and encouraging attitudes of the kids on MasterChef Junior. Will you tune in next week?
