While President Obama may have to endure a certain amount of criticism for no reason–you can’t deny that his years in office have been brutal beyond belief just from the haters alone–the first daughters in no way deserve the disrespect that’s been thrown at them–the latest coming from hag and GOP staffer Elizabeth Lauten.
Here’s how it went down: Malia and Sasha Obama joined their father last week for his annual pardon of two spared-from-Thanksgiving turkeys. The girls — who are 16 and 13, respectively — had very little airtime, simply standing to the side and letting Dad do his annual thing. Despite reports that the First Daughters were rolling their eyes, the girls were out of screen shot for most of the video and didn’t seem visibly annoyed at any point. But even if they were less than amused, I mean, what would your teen’s face look like during a speech about a turkey?
Elizabeth Lauten, a once-prominent media director for the Republican National Committee, wrote a scathing Facebook post attacking the outfits the girls, and criticized the girls for ‘making faces’ on national television and looking like they were after ‘a spot at a bar.’
When a GOP member bashes Malia and Sasha in such a disrespectful and unnecessary way she needs to get fired, and the GOP as a whole needs to chill.
By Saturday evening hundreds of people had demanded that Lauten lose her job as communications director for Rep. Stephen Fincher (R-Tenn.) under the #FireElizabethLauten Twitter hashtag.
Lauten had apologized for her post, writing that ‘judgmental feelings truly have no place in my heart’, saying that ‘hours of prayer’ had shown the error of her ways.
UPDATE: Elizabeth Lauten told NBC News by phone Monday that her resignation is already “in the works.”
