Every Sunday we’ll be highlighting words to live by from some pretty influential people, some from pop culture and others from literary giants.

Today’s spotlight is on Iyanla Vanzant.   Rhonda Harris endured some tough life challenges, abuse, drug use, homelessness – just to name a few. From this life-changing storm Iyanla Vanzant emerged, a passionate woman who was not ashamed to share her story in order to heal and to help others do the same. She holds many roles – speaker, author, TV personality, life coach, relationship expert…this list could go on and on. Iyanla stepped on the scene 30 years ago. She has 15 published books promoting personal growth, relationship advice and spiritual enlightenment all packaged in an honest/straight forward yet caring way. Two of my personal favorites are Value in the Valley and Until Today.

Iyanla is keeping herself busy by using her natural ability as a dynamic speaker to get and keep her message in the forefront. Ms. Vanzant currently has a TV show Fix My Life where she helps individuals and families go through their own personal healing process. She is also the founder of Inner Visions Institute for spiritual development; here she trains new spiritual leaders, spiritual life coaches and ordained ministers. Iyanla has lectures, workshops and a blog where she shares her passionate message of loving self, forgiveness and growing through this human experience.

“What I have learned from all the difficulties in my own life is that human beings have very thick skin. I call that skin, spirit, our highest most powerful self. Spirit is the key to everything we desire. It is our weather-proofing, our Teflon, our line of credit that assures if we just keep putting one foot in front of the other, one day; there will be a miraculous payoff.”   Enjoy the following InstaQuotes- If some of them speak to you and your life circumstances….embrace, learn and grow…that’s what life and its lessons are all about!
