Trying to lose a couple extra pounds before the fat girl in you comes back to visit during the fast-approaching Thanksgiving holiday? Or do you simply want to learn new tricks to stay healthy and fit? Womenshealthmag.com released an article this week titled “7 Ways to Snack for Weight Loss” that lists some of the most important things to know in order to be a smart snacker, and blames the brain for when junk food eaters go overboard. According to a new research published in Psychosomatic Medicine: Journal of Boibehavioral Medicine, during which study authors used magnetic stimulation to reduce activity in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortexes of 21 women, when that part of their brain was hampered, so was their self-restraint. As a result, they reported more intense cravings for high-calorie snacks and ate more unhealthy food during a taste test. The answer? Maximize brain health, as in exercising, getting enough rest and monitoring alcohol intake. As per the seven tricks to snacking right, some of them include: think protein, healthy fat and fiber; sit down when you can; hydrate as you go; and pay attention to your packaging. During the season finale of “America’s Got Talent,” host Nick Cannon wore possibly the most expensive men’s shoes ever! On Tuesday, Sept. 16, Cannon rocked a pair of Tom Ford slip-on kicks that he had custom-bedazzled with 14,000 full-cut round white diamonds set unto white gold, totaling 340 carats and priced at $2 million, according to Women’s Wear Daily. “$2 million shoes – a million each foot,” Cannon said in an Instagram video as he showed off his fancy flats. The shoes were created by jewelry designer Jason Arasheben, founder of Jason of Beverly, and took almost 2,000 hours of work and almost a year to complete. “When Nick approached me last year, he said he wanted to make history and be so over-the-top – he wanted to set a new standard in diamonds,” said Arasheben, adding that “it took four months alone to source all of the diamonds and create them the same size to make the shoe.” “The most expensive shoes in the world!! 2 million dollar custom @TomFord @JasonofBH Maybe I should donate them to charity. Any suggestions?” Cannon tweeted during the finale. Hopefully, his fancy feet will go to good cause.
Just in time for those “baby number 2?” rumors, Beyonce took to her website, beyonce.com, to post a picture of her very fit and slim post-baby-number-one body, hopefully shutting the rumor mill down about her alleged second pregnancy. But, as in most things related to Bey, it was inevitable that the picture would spark yet another criticism: the thin appearance of her thighs. According to critics, Beyonce has been suspected of Photoshopping her thighs in her images, including this latest one. “At first glance, it is difficult to spot, but the top stair in between her thighs isn’t straight. Is this another thigh gap alter?” questioned Yahoo TV writer Rosalyn Oshmyansky in an article about the flick. Apparently, this isn’t the first time B’s done this. In fact, on August 11th she posted a pic that has a distorted iPhone image in it, making her thigh look “shady.” Then there’s the golf picture she posted five months ago, under which followers posted comments like: “her thighs get thinner like magic. The photoshop is unnecessary.” We personally think Beyonce is, as her song claims, flawless. What are your thoughts? Sound off below.
Ladies, there’s a new hairstyle in town and we think it’s pretty darn hot. It’s been dubbed the knotted faux-hawk and the likes of Rita Ora and Cara Delevingne have been spotted rocking the ‘do after it made its premiere on the runway of the Marc by Marc Jacobs show during NYFW. Not to be confused with the frauxhawk (or the fauxhawk), the knotted faux-hawk features a poof in the front top of the head and a bunch of twists, turns and knots towards the back of the head where the hair is gathered. Still can’t picture it? Check out the image and get a visual. Pretty cute, huh? We’d love to see your version of the knotted faux-hawk so make sure to send us your pics!
According to a report released by naturalnews.com today (Sept. 18), it isn’t just vaccines that may or may not cause autism in children. Other causes may include: digestive deficiencies like parasites, yeast infections and food allergies; the chronic use of antibiotics, which destroys “good” bacteria in the intestinal tract, paving the way for yeast overgrowth and allowing undigested food particles to get into circulation, causing autoimmune reactions and food allergies; sensitivities to certain foods like wheat, sugar and milk which can contribute to behavioral problems; heavy metal poisoning including lead; and viral infections like rubella or cytomegalovirus during a mother’s pregnancy and severe infection during infancy. And in the happiest news that made me the saddest (yes, I heart Ryan Gossling): Our favorite “Notebook” actor and girlfriend of three years, Eva Mendes, gave birth to their first child together, a daughter, on September 12. Although neither would confirm the pregnancy, back in July, when Eva was apparently already seven months pregnant, it was public knowledge that the two lovebirds (ugh!) were expecting. However, the couple never addressed the pregnancy news. So far, there is no other detail about the bundle of joy, except that she has entered the world. So, although it hurts me very deep in my gut, here’s a big congratulations for you two!
