The death of Mike Brown and its aftermath has touched nearly everyone, including celebrities, who have taken to social media and the media, in general, to express their feelings about the unfortunate killing of the Ferguson, Missouri, teen. This week Mommynoire.com spoke exclusively with “Braxton Family Values” reality star and singer Traci Braxton, who took the opportunity to share her thoughts on the occurrence. “This tragedy should have never happened,” she said. “We all need to stick together – not in violence, just use our voices. Because people got to take us seriously. If we don’t take ourselves seriously then who is going to take us seriously? If we don’t support each other then who else is going to support us?” The mother of an 18-year-old herself, Braxton went on to explain what she spoke to her son about post Brown’s death, saying she asked him to “stay educated and be driven and be focused.” She also proudly added that her son recently started his own driving instructor business, although she is aware that “trouble can always come to you” regardless of your education and background. “But you have to try to walk away from it,” she finished. “It’s okay to walk away… You don’t have to fight all the time. It’s ok to walk away.” Well said, mom.
