Happy Birthday Halle Berry: 11 Signature Hair Moments

August 15, 2014  |

Clearly Halle Berry is synonymous with her famous pixie haircut. For some of us, one of the first times we were introduced to Berry on the big screen was in 1991 when she played a crackhead in Spike Lee’s Jungle Fever. Her follow up film Strictly Business showcased just how beautiful the Cleveland, Ohio native was. Not to mention her haircut was to die for. The actress rocked that famous pixie for majority of her career especially throughout the 1990’s. Some folks even refer to the short haircut as “the Halle Berry look.”

Today, the Oscar-winning actress turns 48 and she never looked so good. On her birthday we celebrate her by reminiscing about her epic signature hairstyle. She spoke to the Huffington Post about going short:

I am my best self when I have super short hair. That’s when I feel most like me and most confidant. I’ve had long hair until I was about 18 or 19, when I first started acting. I would go to auditions and see every other girl in the room with long, curly hair — whether it be natural or weaved in. I remember thinking this isn’t working for me. I have to somehow be different from these girls, so I cut all my hair off. I went to my manager’s office and he almost had a heart attack. He said, “You’re never going to work. You are no longer commercial.” And I said, “That’s exactly it. I look like every other girl and they’re never going to notice me.” Two weeks after I did that, I got my first acting job. It was “Living Dolls” on ABC. They even said I was different. And it felt like me.

Albeit Halle has tried other lengths and hairstyles in the past, none compares to when she rocks it short. Click continue and check out our gallery of Berry with her famous pixie!
