Danity Kane Splits After Disagreement Turned Physical

August 10, 2014  |

They’ve seen a number of career highs and lows throughout their musical career, but the P. Diddy constructed female group Danity Kane has proven once again that much like the title of one of their hit singles, their future is Damaged.

After reemerging earlier this year as a foursome (D. Woods was no longer part of the lineup), Danity Kane released new music and began booking shows. Citing personal reasons, months later, Aundrea Fimbres left the group. Danity Kane would move ahead a trio.

As such, Dawn Richard, Aubrey O’Day and Shannon Bex forged ahead performing in front of packed audiences, promising fans more new music. But their momentum came to an unexpected halt Friday when an in-studio disagreement turned physical between members Dawn and Aubrey.

Aubrey and Shannon took to the group’s Facebook page to describe how their demise unfolded:

During a recent group meeting, a business conversation took a turn for the worst when my group member punched me in the back of my head while I was speaking to another associate, Aubrey explained.

Shannon echoed her claims, “All I know is what I’ve seen,” she says. She continues, “I did not witness a shouting match, a cat fight or a brawl. I witnessed a single direct punch.”

According to multiple reports, Dawn caught wind that Aubrey and Shannon held business meetings and recorded music without her. This infuriated the songstress, who walked in on one of these meetings, caused an uproar and punched her bandmate.

That moment sealed the deal for the group. Their completed comeback album, and three impending music videos which would have been released at once to make a short film, would no longer be.

According to TMZ, Dawn says the reports are “exaggerated lies and false accusations.” On her personal Twitter account she wrote a short note to the group’s fans, “Extremely sorry to the fans. You don’t deserve this. You’re worth more.”

Aubrey filed a battery report with authorities who are investigating the incident.
