Mommy Noire Exclusive: Tia Mowry-Hardrict On Parenting, Beauty, And Playtex Baby’s Beginnings
Baby care experts Playtex recently partnered with celebrity moms and twin sisters, Tia Mowry-Hardrict and Tamera Mowry-Housley to help parents capture the hopes and dreams for their children through the Beginnings Imagined program. The recently-launched program gives parents the chance to capture and share their child’s memorable moments with a customized keepsake design created by famed children’s book illustrator Julie Olson and the opportunity to win a grand prize of a $5,000 scholarship to help them fulfill their educational dreams!
Recognized for their influence as first time moms, Tia and Tamera realized that each of their children had a unique story to tell, and worked with Olson to create custom Beginnings Imagined illustrations for their little ones. “No two babies are alike and we want to celebrate each child’s individuality,” said Marci Serbonich, Playtex Infant Care Senior Brand Manager. “With our Beginnings Imagined program, we want to capture each child’s unique beginning with a one of a kind illustration.” Both mothers shared their child’s personality traits, favorite toys and interests. With this information, Olson was able to capture each child’s unique story to create their own Beginnings Imagined illustration.
As part of the Playtex Baby Beginnings kick off, Mommy Noire had a chance to catch up with one half of the celebrity sister duo, Tia, for an interview discussing her partnership with Playtex, parenting advice and her beauty favs!
First and foremost…Congrats on all the success of the Nickelodeon hit show “Instant Mom”. We just caught a new episode last night…very funny show! We’re curious to know, does life imitate art in some way for you as both a new parent on TV and in real life?
Absolutely. Stephanie, my character on “Instant Mom,” is a fun, spunky, energetic step-mom, who loves to have a good time, but always remains fashion-forward, creative and young at heart. I definitely possess those same qualities in my real life as a mom and like to think that as my son gets older I’ll stay cool and fun, while continuing to instill important lessons and qualities in him.
We love how you and you sister have evolved as successful child TV stars to now being influential celebrity moms. You two are making such an effective impact with social awareness through several parenting projects. Tell us about the recent partnership with the Playtex Baby Beginnings Imaginedcampaign. What’s the message and why is it so important?
Our partnering up with Playtex is very exciting as they make such such a wide variety and range of baby products that help keep babies and moms both happy. Playtex knows babies and we all know every baby is unique and so were helping to share that message that Playtex designs products for better beginnings. With this collaboration we are trying to help parents capture their child’s one of a kind personality with a keepsake that they can treasure forever. There’s a contest on which parents can answer simple questions about their little one to submit along with a picture. Winners will receive a hand illustrated portrait of what their child could “become” like Tamera and I were lucky enough to get of Cree and Aden. The grand prize winner will win a $5,000 scholarship to go towards ensuring their son or daughter gets every opportunity to succeed and thrive in childhood. Were thrilled to be a part of this all.
We recently saw you, baby Cree and your husband Cory out at the How to Train Your Dragon 2 movie premiere. Loved that black strapless jumpsuit, and your skin looked amazing! You and your sister always seem to walk comfortably in your own skin when it comes to style, what are some of your beauty and style secrets on maintaining your look as a mother of a busy toddler? Tell us your “must have, never leave home without” beauty products?
Oh my gosh, where do I begin? Well first and foremost, a healthy diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables is so important. Not only for skin but just general health as well. I also always try and remember to drink half of my body weight in ounces, in water daily. Drinking a lot of water keeps your skin hydrated and always look fresh and young. As far as beauty must haves? I always have a great red lipstick in my purse. I think a red lip is timeless and can turn drab to fab in a snap.
On PlaytexBaby.com we love the “Here’s the Deal” parenting advice videos featuring you and Tamera. For new moms there is no rule book, so what advice can you lend to other new mommy-istas on how to deal with the tough toddler stages of 2-4 years old?! What kind of daily activities do you plan for your lil guy Cree to keep him engaged and happy?
Be kind to yourself. Forgive yourself. Nobody is perfect and as you said, there is no rule book! Go with your instincts. A mothers instinct is never wrong. I try to remember to be patient and always work on infusing play with education. At that age, there is so much to learn and when you teach your kids that learning can be fun, I think it helps ensure that he or she does well in school down the line.
Finding ways to support a healthy lifestyle while parenting is important. Tell us about your company Need Brands and what it provides for new mothers.
Need Brands is a line of products that my sister and I started a while back when we both decided that we wanted children. We realized during our pregnancies that there were products that us as soon-to-be momsneeded that didn’t exist on the market yet, or at least weren’t easily and readily accessible and that is basically how Need Brands got started. We have Milky, to promote breastmilk production in nursing mommy’s and Stretchy which is a special, naturally made cream used to diminish the appearance of stretch marks. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for new things coming!
Parents are invited to take part of this exciting contest by visiting imagined.playtexbaby.com where they will be asked to answer a few short questions about their child and submit an image for their chance to win.
