Rockstar Mama: 11 Dope Moments of Jennifer Lopez On Stage
Who remembers watching Janet Jackson’s 1993 music video “That’s the Way Love Goes” and seeing Jennifer Lopez for one of the first times before In Living Color? Even then, there was star power in the twenty-something from the Bronx. In 1994, Jennifer Lopez was supposed to go on tour with Janet but she turned the offer down. Who does that? Who turns down an offer to tour with Janet Jackson?! The Bronx native had bigger dreams. She wanted to pursue her own goals and dreams. She didn’t want to be a backup dancer forever. Take about the spirit of discernment! If Jen didn’t make the decision at that moment to not go on tour, who knows where she’d be now. She spoke to Redbook Magazine about the importance of not letting fear run your life:
“I’m not always fearless. I’m usually a little bit afraid, but I don’t ever let that take over. I think when there is a sense of fear, it motivates me. Usually I’m able to tell myself, “Screw it, I’m just going to do this.” And then that’s it, I’ve done it, and if it was 100 percent a success, that’s great, and if not, that’s okay too because I still did it. I don’t do regrets. But I am a perfectionist, so I’m always re-evaluating and re-analyzing so I can make whatever it was better for the next time.”
One thing we love about this now 44-year-old woman is that she works! Her hard work is apparent each time she hits the stage. Jennifer always puts on a high-paced, well choreographed performance that we can appreciate. Take a look at some dope still shots of the rock-star mama on stage!
