Calling In “Black” To Work & The Emotional Toll Of Being Black & Reading The News These Days

These days the news can be the most depressing thing you read all day. And in this day and age when we scroll through our Twitter and Instagram feeds before we shower or even speak to another living soul, it’s often the first thing we read, before we head in to work.

If you’ve ever learned of another Black person being assaulted or killed on your way to work, you know how it can mess with your mental and emotional health, making going out in to the world seem like a daunting and exhausting task.

When you don’t want to go to work because you’ve just been confronted with another tragic incident, perhaps you can call in Black.
