Mommy Mashup: LaLa Anthony Shoots To #1 On The NY Times Best Seller List!

February 6, 2014  |

She shoots, she scores!

LaLa Anthony is having the best year ever and it’s only just begun because of the break-out success of her first book, “The Love Playbook: Rules for Love, Sex, and Happiness,” where the wife of NBA star Carmelo Anthony dishes on her secrets to a successful marriage. Not only is the book doing well, in its first week, “The Love Playbook” skyrocketed to become the #1 book on the elite NY Times Best Seller list.

Just because she’s a basketball wife, you won’t find LaLa playing the background. We’re loving that she continues to blaze her own path and seriously, this woman does not stop. She’s a mom to Kiyan, 4, a VJ/TV personality/actress/reality-star (“LaLa’s Full Court Life”), and also has a makeup line, and a fashion collection.

Of the relationship advice book, she says: “My message is to love yourself first and we have to stop looking for a man to validate us and to make us feel whole. It’s all about self love and loving yourself. That’s what the book is truly about.”

Mrs. Anthony is a girlfriend in our head who has learned from bad dates, tumultuous relationships, and backstabbing friends. With her no nonsense attitude and no judgments, LaLa tells it like it is, sharing her personal experiences and revealing intimate details about her marriage and past relationships, to illustrate what she’s learned the hard way. You’ll find play-by-play plans—from teaching your man the right way to treat a woman to dealing with a fickle friend, and, of course, how to snag a baller. With personal secrets and empowering advice, she dishes on taking control of your relationships, rising above adversity, and living your life by your rules.

One of the hottest topics, LaLa dishes on is handling groupies!

“They always get too close. I just think that’s how some girls can be,” LaLa explained on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.” “As long as it’s respectful, I can deal with it.”

Another tip for keeping her man happy? LaLa lets Carmelo to hit the strip club with his buddies every once in a while. “I don’t want him to be a regular guest,” she said. “Guys, that’s what they do. I don’t really have a problem with it.”

They’ve been together for over 10 years and married four years in and going strong…and Carmelo has her back: “That’s my wife. I support her,” Carmelo told the NY Daily News. “…Go get the book.”

“The Love Playbook: Rules for Love, Sex, and Happiness” is available in stores and online everywhere.
