You think school is a safe place for your kids but when you hear stories like this, it makes you think twice. John Shook was a band teacher at Riverside High School in Bellefontaine, Ohio who was recently found guilty of having sex with three of his students. That’s disgusting.
Prosecutors tried to go for the maximum sentence, 39 years, Shook was sentenced to seven-and-a-half for six counts of sexual battery, one count of attempted sexual battery and five counts of gross sexual imposition. He was acquitted of one count of attempted sexual battery.
The worst part? This fool had the nerve to try to defend himself in court. In a prepared statement, Shook said, “It feels like all the good things I’ve ever done in my career have been wiped out.” It doesn’t matter how many band concerts you got your students to do or how many kids you taught to read music–the bottom line is you victimized three students (that we know of) and put so many more at risk.
