Resources for Parents Trying to Raise Bilingual Kids

July 24, 2014  |

As an expectant mom, I think it’s so important for my child to learn another language – especially considering my husband is from Panama and a native Spanish speaker. Though I have been speaking Spanish for many years, I will dare not say I am 100 percent fluent. Vocabulary can be a struggle, but I do know my stuff. Because of this, I really want our child to truly be bilingual and not have to solely rely on the school system to educate them. In doing research, we’ve come across so many great articles and reads that show others attempting raise bilingual kids as well. Be it French, German or whatever language, they reveal hurdles that one will face when trying to make their children bilingual and ways to overcome them. Below are a few resources we’ve found to be useful for our endeavors and hopefully any parent considering a second language in their home. May the force be with you!
