Woman Wants To Rent Her Breasts To Milk-Feed Infants of Gay Couples
Milk sharing is making headlines again this week. This time, a woman who lives just outside Paris advertised on a popular website that she’d breastfeed the babies of gay male couples for 100 euros, or $130, a day. According to Reuters, the woman identified herself as a healthy 29-year-old mother and a nurse who is “renting [her] breasts to milk-feed infants”. And while this seems strange to some people, especially Stateside, neither the French government nor the website’s owners have a problem with it.
The poster explicitly said she wanted to help gay men and their families; in May, France became one of the latest countries to legalize gay marriage. She’s offering 10 feedings a day. She’s gotten a few serious offers from concerned daddies, though the unnamed mother said the rest of the offers were from “perverts.” The website’s owner Alexander Woog said there’s no problem with the somewhat controversial offer. He told Reuters, “Our legal advisers are sure of this. It’s illegal in France to sell maternal milk but this is a person proposing a service, not selling the milk in flasks.”
So long as a mother’s healthy, there’s no real reason a woman can’t breastfeed another person’s baby. Is she providing a great service to families or is it just too weird?
