This Man Tried to Sell His Girlfriend’s Baby on Craiglist for $100

We’re reading far too many stories about people trying to sell babies on the Internet. Here’s another one for the file: a 22-year-old man tried to sell his girlfriend’s two-month-old daughter for $100 all because she wasn’t giving him enough attention. The New York Daily News said Paul Marquez placed not one but two ads on Craigslist offering up 19-year-old Katie Devalle’s daughter. The worst part? He actually got offers.

Documents pertaining to his arrest said he placed the ad to get back at his girlfriend. The two met through online dating and had only been together a short time. Between Devalle’s job and, you know, caring for a baby, she didn’t have enough time for him. So he went on Craigslist and tried to sell the little girl, using a picture and his girlfriend’s phone number, because he “got bored and wanted to get a little laugh and a little kick out of it”.

This creep is scheduled to appear in court today and he’s facing three misdemeanor charges: child endangerment, authority to place or board out children and aggravated harassment. We hope they handle this, because this man doesn’t need to be around his girlfriend–or his own two-year-old child.
