Yay! Scholastic Book Club is Back
When we were kids in elementary school, we got so excited when, on Friday afternoons, the teacher would take out those thin paper booklets that meant you got to order a new book, notebook or erase. Kids have really missed out since then – until now. Galley Cat announced that the Scholastic Book Club is back and brand-new for a new generation of kids.
According to the Scholastic press release,
New Common Core State Standards are based on specific skills at each grade level. Now, Club flyers are labeled for “1st Graders,” “2nd Graders,” etc., and schools receive individual monthly catalogs for grades pre-K through grade 5 and a catalog for middle school, each of which offers books that align to the new Common Core State Standards. With grade-appropriate books at a range of reading levels typically found in each grade, students who excel at reading as well as those who struggle will find appropriate books.
The flyers look different from the ones we had as kids and the program’s gone hi-tech, too. Instead of just paperbacks, you can order ebooks for your kid. Will your kid be excited about the new program?
