America’s favorite villain is back, but this time he’s here to save the world! Gru and the girls will kick off the summer in “Despicable Me 2”, set to hit theaters nationwide on July 3rd. Mommynoire had a chance to get the inside scoop and hear about the upcoming movie from the stars themselves.

The last time we saw Gru, his heart was being stolen by his new three adopted daughters. Although Gru is now a family man worried about birthday parties and focusing on his new non evil business of jams and jellies, his past comes calling. Only this time his evil mastermind expertise is put to good use as he embarks on a quest to save the world.

Once again, Steve Carell gives life to Gru, while former “iCarly” star Miranda Cosgrove, who voices a teenage Margo says, “It was fun getting to be Margo and being a little bit older”. Margo is growing up and she’s ready to give Gru some fatherhood headaches when she falls for a leather jacket-wearing, salsa-dancing boy at the mall.

Aside from the hilarity of the Minions that are devoted to Gru and the girls, the movie depicts themes of love, blended families and the often neglected subject of dating and finding love as a single parent.

“When you do have kids, I’ve found it becomes all about the kids and it’s very easy to lose your sense of self within that,” says Carrell when asked about what he thinks about Gru’s devotion to fatherhood.

In this sequel you get to meet Lucy, an enthusiastic secret agent played by Academy Award nominee Kristen Wiig who says she would be a horrible secret agent because she can’t tell a lie. You might remember Kristen from her hilarious role in “Bridesmaids”. She brings the same hilarity to “Despicable Me 2” and will steal your heart with her ninja moves and bubbly personality.

“Despicable Me 2” is a true family movie, with messages and entertainment for both kids and parents. Be sure to catch the flick in 3D because it truly adds to the experience. Between the hijinks of the Minions and the party music which includes original songs by Pharrell Williams, there won’t be anything more delightful to do this holiday weekend than catch “Despicable Me 2” with the kids. The movie will have you dancing and laughing in your seat.
