Recent Survey: Half of Parents Steal Money from Their Kids
Uh-oh, Mommy, do you need a time out? According to the Daily Mail, you’re probably in the majority of parents who have been very naughty—they’ve been stealing money from their children.
A survey conducted through the website Coupons4u asked 2,578 parents across the United States whether or not they took swiped money from their kids and a whopping 49 percent said they did. Worse? Fifty-one of the sticky-fingered moms said they didn’t feel guilty.
The offenders had good reasons, they said. The survey found 36 percent “borrowed” the money to pay for bills, while 29 percent say they were trying to handle debt. Then there’s the 18 percent who said they spent their kid’s money on birthday presents or other items for celebrations, but it’s unclear whose birthday they were celebrating. Among the parents who didn’t confess to snatching their kid’s cash, 34 percent said they’d think about robbing their kid’s piggy bank, but only in the case of a medical emergency.
Come clean; have you ever stolen from your kids? Does it count if you put the money right back?
