Survey Finds 3 Kids is the Most Stressful Number
Parents know one child is tough but how many children has parents at their wit’s end? According to a TodayMOMS.com, having three children is when parents really have a hard time. With any more or any less, parents find they can handle it but for many parents, three is the worst.
One mother interviewed said, “Going from one to two was an easy, breezy transition. Two to three, everything was turned upside down. I do not feel like I have it together. You only have two hands! Just crossing the street and not being able to physically hold all their hands I find tremendously stressful.” Other moms say once you reach four, possible five children, parenting gets easier. It seems when parents have that many children, they become less concerned about being perfect parents and more about the little things, like getting all the kids to school on time.
The survey delved more into the “mom stress” finding that on a scale of 1 to 10, mothers rated their stress at 8.5 on average. They reported feeling more stress from their partners than their children and said most of their stress comes from not getting everything done in a day. Not being able to take care of themselves is also a major source of stress for mothers.
