Some parents have all they can do to pack lunches for their kids. But dad David LaFerriere took things to the next level by drawing new designs on his kids’ plastic sandwich bags every day since 2008. Foodbeast says the graphic designer took his Sharpie to the sandwich bags every morning and then snapped a photo which he posted on his flickr page.

He’s amassed over 1,1000 sandwich bag photos since he first began his project. From seasonal designs like Santa Claus to adorable, LaFerriere’s drawn it all. In a profile on flickr’s blog, he says he sometimes gets design inspiration from the bubbles and seeds in the bread (whole wheat, of course). Shortly after he started posting the photos on flickr, LaFerriere started getting contacts from people around the world. He told flickr, “The sandwich bags are something that my boys and I share together. But the comments people leave about a parent doing something similar really touch me, because there are other parents that love their kids just as much. And they love them enough to leave a little note, a little whatever it may be… that’s just something that brightens their day when they get to their lunch.” And though his boys are now in high school, they still can’t wait to see what dad has doodled on their sandwiches each day.
