Try to maintain contact with an incarcerated parent’s family and friends that have a healthy relationship with the child. Whether you like it or not that family is in some way apart of your child’s identity and they deserve to know about them and have contact with them. Family and friends may have pictures and stories about the incarcerated parent that can help the child feel closer to them.
