Would You Use Facebook to Punish Your Kids?

December 5, 2012  |

Parents know that sometimes, the best way to let your kid know she did something wrong is to let other people know, too. Embarrassment hits harder than any kind of timeout or grounding. But some parents are taking it even further. One mother spoke to Dr. Drew about finding her teenage daughter posing with an unopened bottle of liquor on Instagram saying, “I wish I could drink this.” She punished her daughter by posting a picture on Facebook with a sign telling what she did wrong. The mom knows she embarrassed her daughter but said:

“My mother showed up at the club in rollers when I missed curfew. I was embarrassed but I turned out fine.”

Watch the video and let us know: is Facebook (Twitter, Instagram, etc.) to punish your kids ever okay?
