Mommy Certified: Strollers – The Double Helix and Helix Plus Upgrade Kit by Orbit Baby

October 18, 2012  |

Its fall and with the new season comes the much anticipated Helix and Helix Plus Upgrade Kit by Orbit Baby. The hearts of Orbit Baby G2 stroller owners and stroller nerds alike have been pounding (seriously, hear that??) awaiting the arrival of the only premium double stroller that doesn’t take up the entire sidewalk or leave one child with a slightly unfortunate view.

If you think this stroller looks like the newest smartphone on wheels, there is good reason for that; Orbit Baby has completely redefined the double stroller from a limited seating sidewalk-hawk, to a sleek and stylish modern day pram.

The Breakdown:
The Double Helix is available as both a double stroller (the Double Helix) or as an add-on to Orbit Baby G2 single stroller (the Helix Plus). The frame takes advantage of Orbit’s innovative 360° rotating seats, so your little ones can face any direction, including each other. Also both rotating docs can handle the Orbit Infant Car Seat, Bassinet, Stroller Seat or Toddler Car Seat. Whether you have twins, siblings close in age, or one child on the way, the Double Helix has your family covered.

Who the stroller is for:
The Mommy on-the-go who needs a stroller that can adapt to her busy schedule.

Pros: If you already own an Orbit Baby G2, purchasing the Helix Plus Upgrade kit ($350) is a no-brainer since you most likely own their infant car seat and stroller seat.

If you are looking for a brand new double stroller for twins or siblings close in age, you could not ask for a better seating option. Concerned about pushing a double stroller? The Double Helix comes with an extendable 3-position telescoping handlebar and 6 wheels with24 QuadShock™ shock absorbers to make navigating sidewalks a little easier. Also, Mommies with twins will love the double infant car seat options.

Cons: Serious sticker shock alert! All this high-tech convenience will set you back as much as $1630+! Not so realistic for most of us, but each attachment is sold separately so you can decide what you need and what you don’t.

Bottom Line: If you are in the market for a double stroller then go ahead and get in line for the hottest stroller on the market… I’ll bring the lattes.
