Celebrity Weddings We Didn’t Find Out About Until After They Said “I Do”
Your wedding day can be one of the biggest days of your life, which is why most people can’t wait to share the news that they’re getting married. But we didn’t find out about the big day of these celebrities until after they said, “I do.”
News of Kim Coles’ wedding in the Dominican Republic surfaced weeks after the Living Single star said, “I do” to former SWAT officer Reggie Mckiver. “I’m 53 and Reggie is 41 but I’m not a cougar,” Coles said in an interview. “It’s about the right energy. It wasn’t like I was trolling for younger men. It’s about energy. We’re ageless. Just two people on the same plane.”
No one saw these nuptials coming! Billy Joel managed to pull the wool over the eyes of the guests he invited to his recent Fourth of July barbecue. Forty family members and friends thought they were there for hot dogs, hamburgers and fireworks, but they were actually treated to a wedding. The 66-year-old rocker tied the knot to his very pregnant 33-year-old partner, Alexis Roderick.

We didn’t find out Kerry Washington was a married woman until nearly a month after the wedding took place. The Scandal star had been dating former NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha for more than a year. Their wedding day was very intimate and family oriented. Washington’s parents signed the marriage certificate as witnesses while Asomugha’s sister officiated the ceremony. They welcomed daughter Isabelle Amarachi nearly a year later.
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon
No one even knew that Nick Cannon was on Mariah Carey’s radar until they announced they were husband and wife. Cannon and Carey welcomed a set of twins on their third wedding anniversary. However, their fairytale marriage ended last December when Cannon filed for divorce.
Kimora Lee Simmons
Kimora Lee Simmons used to live her life as an open book, but these days she’s a lot more private. Several months after the big reveal was made, Kimora gave birth to their first child together: Wolfe Lee Leissner.

Lopez invited friends and family to a backyard barbecue where the American Idol judge exchanged vows with Anthony. Her marriage to the Latin singer officially came to an end last summer.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie
Even though Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie vowed that they wouldn’t marry until same-sex marriage was legal everywhere in the U.S., they changed their minds for the sake of their children. Unbeknownst to the paparazzi, one of Hollywood’s biggest couples tied the knot last summer at a church that was on the grounds of their chateau in France. They made the announcement afterward and shared a few intimate details from their big day with People. Money obtained from the magazine photo shoot all went to charity.
There’s a saying that goes “The best way to get over someone is to get under someone else.” That may be true for Naya Rivera. She was involved in a high-profile relationship with rapper Big Sean, but three months after the couple ended their engagement, the Glee star said “I do” to spending the rest of her life with another man. Rivera started dating her friend Ryan Dorsey soon after the breakup and they announced their new marital status after returning from Cabos San Lucas last year. They are currently expecting their first child together.
Zoe Saldana had the press all up in her business during her on-again, off-again relationship with Hollywood hunk Bradley Cooper. But few people had any idea how serious things were when she started dating Italian artist Marco Perego. That is until the Colombiana star announced that she was officially off the market. They secretly wed in London in 2013 and are now proud parents to a set of twin boys. Saldana and her hubby bucked tradition, and he has taken her last name.

Their second daughter was born late last year.

They welcomed a child the following year but after three years of marriage, the couple separated.
Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem
Penelope Cruz has been fiercely protective of her personal life that it shouldn’t have been a surprise to find out Cruz up and married Javier Bardem on the low. But it was a shock because the couple hadn’t even announced their engagement. They exchanged vows at a friend’s house in the Bahamas. “One thing I don’t do, I don’t lie about my personal life,” Cruz said in an interview. “It’s sacred to me. It’s my life. But I don’t give details about it because I am allergic to that.”
