Kanye Blames Career For Mom’s Death
The story of Kanye West’s rise to hip-hop stardom is truly a remarkable one. Sadly, the rags-to-riches story is also one that is stained by tragedy. Nearly eight years ago, West lost his mother, Donda West, due to medical complications following cosmetic surgery. The 58-year-old’s untimely passing left West feeling distraught and alone, and with the exception of artistic tributes, the Grammy Award-winning rapper rarely speaks on the tragedy However, in a rare interview with the U.K.’s Q magazine, the 38-year-old revealed that he blames his success for his mom’s death.
When asked what the biggest sacrifice he has made for his career has been, West shockingly replied:
According to the husband and father, his mother would still be alive if they never moved to Los Angeles.
“If I had never moved to L.A. she’d be alive,” he shared. “I don’t want to go far into it because it will bring me to tears.”
Although Miss Donda is not physically here with us anymore, West does an amazing job of keeping her memory alive. In addition to dedicating songs to the former English professor, we reported earlier this year that he’s designing a video game with an objective of getting his mom into the gates of heaven.
