Known to be a trendsetter when it comes to music (well to some), it’s no surprise that Beyonce’s new song and video ‘Run The World (Girls)’ is making headlines in both music and fashion. When the song was released a few weeks ago, it was greeted with mixed reviews, partly because it was a different sound for the r&;b/pop singer. Recently, as she debuted the video earlier this week on American Idol, the eccentric song was accompanied by an even more eccentric video with a variety of crazy, couture fashion.
Parading around in no less than six designer ensembles, Beyonce was determined to make a mark, fashionably, with her latest video. In the first main shot of the video, Beyoncé greets us in a red and gold baroque-inspired minidress by the late designer, Alexander McQueen. From then the designs get even more interesting. Other fashions include a black Jean Paul Gaultier couture gown and two others from Emilio Pucci.
Although Run The World (Girls) is filled with high couture fashion, this hasn’t always been the norm for the singer. From leather suits and braids to blonde hair and funky fashion, check out some of her looks in previous videos.
