Newark Teen Gunned Down, Relatives Blame Love Triangle
Relatives and friends of Tammy Henderson, 19, are mourning after the teen was gunned down Thursday night.
Pix 11 is reporting that the teen was socializing with friends on a pal’s front steps when a man in a dark hoodie approached the group and opened fire around 10:45 pm. Everyone was able to escape the hail of gunfire except Henderson, who was shot in the back of the head while fleeing the attack. Relatives later told reporters that the teen’s friends tried to pull her into the home, but it was too late because she had already been shot. Henderson was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to ABC, the teen lived a block away from the crime scene with her mother and grandmother. Sadly, the teen’s mom was called to the home on South 11th Street in Newark, NJ, to identify her daughter’s body.
Investigators have not identified a motive for the shooting, but the victim’s sisters told reporters that they believed the gunman intentionally targeted her. Friends and relatives have also expressed belief that the shooting is related to a love triangle that Henderson may have been involved in.
Henerson recently graduated from Weequahic High School and was working at a local movie theater while trying to become a dental assistant.
