Having dropped 35 pounds since January, Associate Editor Victoria Uwumarogie clearly hasn’t let her hair halt her fitness game — but don’t think having locs makes her maintenance routine any easier.

Hair Regimen

Pre workout: “I usually put my hair in a loc sock to keep it out of my face and so it doesn’t sweat as much.”

Post workout: “When I get home I put oil in my hair and try to clean my scalp so my dandruff doesn’t act up and my scalp doesn’t stink. Peppermint and eucalyptus oil provide the best relief from itchiness and they’re not as greasy or as heavy as castor and coconut oil, although I use those too. Putting peppermint oil and witch hazel in a spray bottle and spritzing it on your scalp after a workout is a great way to clean the scalp.”
