It all started with a cookie straw.
A Starbucks shift supervisor in Queens has been fired after an incident with a customer went viral. The supervisor, Melissa has lost her job after screaming and accusing a customer of stealing…wait for it…a cookie straw!
The customer, Ruby Chen, stated, the worker started yelling at her, when she grabbed a cookie straw. Chen had been on her phone at the time when a barista called her order. A confused Ruby, quickly tried to understand what was going on when things took a left turn. Melissa yelled at her for taking the cookie straw and the argument ensued.
Ruby Chen posted on Starbucks’ Facebook page, “I didn’t hear her coworker asking my name to put on cup at first because I was opening my reward app on my phone to pay. Then Melissa started to shout at me saying hey helloooo with very bad attitude.”
Of course, someone recorded the entire exchange on their cellphone. You can hear Melissa screaming, “Give me the straw! You’re not going to be served here. Bye! Bye! Give me the straw and leave.”
Starbucks later apologized to Chen and stated Melissa “no longer works” there.
