Poor Thing: Jamie Foxx Explains What Went Wrong With His National Anthem
If you saw Lil Mo getting dragged this past weekend, it was all because she tried to come for A-list entertainer Jamie Foxx and his rendition of the National Anthem at the Floyd Mayweather/Manny Pacquiao fight.
Now, if you watched the fight you know Jamie’s performance wasn’t perfect but it certainly wasn’t the worst we’ve ever heard. He just took us to church real quick. But the people didn’t love it.
So, when he sat down with Ellen DeGeneres, he explained what went wrong.
“Now, I sung the National Anthem. Now, some people were a little upset about how way it went down. But here’s the thing, anytime a Black person sing the National Anthem you know we gotta…*does a series of riffs and runs* . I mean, that’s just…but what did happen in the ring, my ears came out, my inner ears. My inner ears were out and I’m singing with an organ, so I can’t hear what the organ is doing with the big crowd. So some of it was a little off. But in the arena, it killed. The telecast, it was a little off. But we still, we still love America.”
