The Jacksonville Jaguars were not too impressive on the field this past NFL season, but the defensive tackle Sen’Derrick Marks scored major points off the field recently.
According to Jacksonville.com, the 28-year-old surprised Khameyea Jennings, 18, by showing up to her room at the Wolfson Children’s Hospital with a large bouquet of flowers and asking her to prom.
“I talked with your mom, she said it’s OK,” Marks asked Jennings. “And I heard you have prom this weekend, and I wanted to know if I could take you to prom?
Jennings, who had initially planned to attend the celebration with her sister Mikhaela, quickly agreed. For the occasion, Jennings wore a beautiful white gown and a tiara presented to her Marks and his fiancée Rayan White. The duo stylishly pulled up to the celebration at the Jacksonville Zoo in a Lamborghini Gallardo.
Jennings, who was diagnosed with liver cancer on Mother’s Day 2013, was presented with the special prom night opportunity by Dreams Come True—a nonprofit organization dedicated to granting the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses.
“I really want to make a difference,” Marks said. “I want to do something where you actually make someone’s day, to make a difference in someone’s life.”
“She said this is a day to be normal,” Jennings’mom Laquandra said, “not to have to worry about needles, chemo, potassium levels. Just a day to be a teenager and enjoy the prom.”
