Bruce Jenner Discusses Transition With Diane Sawyer

April 25, 2015  |

It’s the interview we’ve been patiently waiting to see.

Last night, former Olympian and reality star, Bruce Jenner discussed his transition with Diane Sawyer in an exclusive “20/20” interview. During the interview Bruce declared, “For all intents and purposes, I’m a woman.”

The 65-year-old held nothing back as he explained his desire to become a woman. Bruce stated,

“People look at me differently. They see you as this macho male, but my heart and my soul and everything that I do in life — it is part of me. That female side is part of me. That’s who I am.”

Bruce also discussed the following…

The First Time He Cross Dressed:

“I marked the closet so when I put it back I could put it all back, everything back in the exact same spot so I wouldn’t get caught,” Jenner said. “And, at the time, I didn’t know why I was doing it besides it just made me feel good.”

How His Children Responded:

“They all cried. Mainly because they didn’t want anybody to hurt dad,” Jenner said. “They are very protective of me.”

His decision to reveal his transition:
“I just can’t pull the curtain any longer. I’ve built a nice little life. I just can’t again, Bruce is not a lie, she is not a lie. I can’t do it anymore.”

“If I die, which, I could be diagnosed next week with cancer — and boom you’re gone,” Jenner said. “I would be so mad at myself that I didn’t explore that side of me. You know? And I don’t want that to happen.”

His Thoughts On KUWTK:

“The entire run I kept thinking to myself the one real true story in the family was the one I was hiding and nobody knew about it. The one thing that could really make a difference in people’s lives was right here in my soul and I couldn’t tell that story.”

Kanye West’s Advice To Kim Kardashian Which Helped Her Support Bruce’s Transition:
“I can be married to the most beautiful woman in the world, and I am. I can have the most beautiful daughter in the world, and I have that. But I’m nothing if I can’t be me, if I can’t be true to myself.”

On Future Surgeries:

“As of now, I have all the male parts and all that kind of stuff, so in a lot of ways we’re different, okay? But we still identify as female. And that’s very hard for Bruce Jenner to say. Because why? I don’t want to disappoint people.”

Wow. Are we the only ones that found this interview interesting? A documentary premiering on E! will follow Bruce’s life as a transgender woman, airing July 26.
